Volunteers

We are always looking for volunteers and offer great discounts (including free admission) for those who serve.

Volunteer discounts are available for the following circumstances:

  • $5 discount on any badge, including single-day badges, for volunteering at least four hours. This Is essentially a free four-day badge. Note: We are tracking hours volunteered here, not slots volunteered.

  • Recognition at the closing ceremonies, and sometimes (but not always) we have freebies to hand out!

Online-Only Via Discord

While our Spring in-person event is hosted in Kansas City, our Fall online event is hosted via Discord, a free text, audio, and video service. Discord is a web-based service that also has great desktop and mobile apps. You don't need anything more than the cell phone, tablet, or web browser you're using right now. There's nothing to download or hook up, but a mic and headset would be great. We use a number of online virtual tabletops (VTTs) including Roll20, Foundry, Fantasy Grounds, Tabletop Simulator, and more (game hosts decide).

Assignments

Once we get your application, we'll try to work you into the time and positions you requested. Final volunteer schedules will be made available by November 17th.

We have a limited number of volunteer spots available, so sign up early! Fill out the application below and let us know when you are available. Convention staff will follow up and discuss the details. Note: If you are approved as a volunteer, you will still need to acquire a badge. When selecting your badge, make sure and also choose the appropriate discount level for your hours of volunteering.

Hosts/GMs

Event hosts and GMs DO NOT have to submit a volunteer form to get a discount for hosting their events. Get details on our Events page.

 

Positions

There are a number of areas where we need volunteers. Check all that apply and we'll find a place for you.

Times

Please indicate when you wish to volunteer. Remember to show up early for volunteering, as the person you are replacing will likely need to immediately leave for their own event. If its your first time volunteering for a position, make sure to allow time for staff to explain what you will be doing and to hand-off tasks to you.
